In this video two engineering students from George Mason University demonstrate their device that can extinguish a fire with the use of sound waves.
The process in a similar to putting out a candle, but in this case sound wave’s would disrupt the oxygen feeding the flame.
The engineering students initially thought that the device could make use of high frequency sound waves to disrupt oxygen levels that feed fire. They later discovered that the key element to their device turned out to be the bass element. Could dropping the bass actually save lives? These two students might have just created a safer, mess-free way to put out fires.
