No more arguing over which bottle to open with dinner.
Good news for all you wine lovers out there! A new wine contraption is being described as the world’s first smart bottle and also promises to keep wines fresh after opening for up to a month. It’s called Kuvée and it is set to hit the market this fall.
How it works is drinkers inset a bottle of wine into an outer shell that’s fitted with a WiFi connected touch screen that not only identifies the wine, but also offers food pairing ideas, serving tips, how and where the wine was made, and the number of glasses of wine remaining.

The system also has a patented valve system that prevents oxygen from reaching the wine, giving uncorked bottles an incredibly long shelf life of 30 days. So, instead of worrying whether you should open a bottle of Riesling, Shiraz, or Rosé with dinner, you can open them all three!

However, there is always a catch. The system only works with its own patented wine bottles. Kuvée wines are a selection of California wines from Bonny Doon Vineyard, Schug, B. R. Cohn, and Pine Ridge (among others), with bottles ranging between $15 and $50 US dollars.
And if you don’t really feel like going to the liquor store to purchase more wines, users can order directly from the shell’s touch screen.
The Kuvée system is now available for pre-order on their indiegogo.com fundraiser campaign, along with four bottles of wine for $199 USD. The system will begin shipping to residents in California and Massachusetts in October, before expanding to New York, Oregon, and Washington in December, and to the remaining states that allow Direct to Consumer wine shipments in early 2017.
Kuvée is currently only available in the United States, but expanding to other countries is part of future plans.
