Comets
NASA's NEOWISE mission has recently discovered some celestial objects traveling through our neighborhood.
A new image of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko was taken by the European Space Agency's (ESA) Rosetta spacecraft shortly before its controlled impact into the comet's surface on Sept. 30, 2016.
“Just as the Rosetta Stone after which this mission was named was pivotal in understanding ancient language and history, the vast treasure trove of Rosetta spacecraft data is changing our view on how comets and the Solar System formed.”
The 4.5-billion-year-old comet is roughly 67 million miles from Earth.
