It’s not pretty.
According to an AsapSCIENCE video, nearly half of Americans report drinking at least one glass of soda per day.
Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health reports that a typical 20-ounce soda contains up to 18 teaspoons of sugar and upwards of 240 calories, and “People who drink this ‘liquid candy’ do not feel as full as if they had eaten the same calories from solid food.”
The Harvard nutrition report also states that consuming soda increases the risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
If these risks are associated with averaging one or two sodas per day, what would happen to the brain and body if an individual only drank soda? AsapSCIENCE takes the question on in their video below.
